Form, functionality and market realities put the framework in the design process.
Strengthened by interdisciplinary collaboration with the engineers, as well as the easy exchange with production partners, Flink delivers designs that are convincing in their implementation, use and appearance.
The tasks of the designer are wide-ranging, and include the following activities:
Our designers are happy to advise you in your concerns:
Thorough research is the starting point of development. Based on the wishes, ideas, and needs of our customers, end-user surveys, materials and market research or analyses of application are conducted in order to fully specify the target.
Below you get an insight into our research work.

The attention in the development of a product is always in the needs and desires of the users. Through an intensive engagement with end users and a targeted analysis of use, we receive detailed information about the handling of end-users with the product and their requirements for product development.

Depending on the complexity and scope of the assignment, further analysis will be carried out. A detailed analysis of the market situation, as well as of the potential technologies and materials, are important for an efficient and targeted product development phase.

Extensive mood and style boards simplify the entry into the process of design and inspire the designer in his work. Based on arranged imagery, the designer defines an 'aesthetic roadmap', which will guide him through the design, and which is continuously adapted and validated during the design process.
We give ourselves the time to question well-known approaches and develop new routes. Models and scribbles serve as a review and evaluation of initial ideas. The final product idea is crystallized through an iterative approach of the critical discourse between design, engineering, and the customer.
Below you will get an insight into individual steps of the design.

Initial ideas and design will be collected by means of sketches. Thanks to this concise and fast technology, variations of designs and solutions can be visualized, collected and reviewed.

Functional models made of simple components are used to review our innovative approaches, allowing us to test the construction and identify opportunities for optimization.
In particular, the elaboration of ergonomic aspects is based on a series of tests and refinements through functional models.

Through shape models, the size and appearance of the design can be visualized. These simple models, made out of materials that are easily treated, are helpful tools for the elaboration of a draft. They also offer important support for the future implementation in CAD.

First area definitions made using CAD support the designer in the form-finding process. They permit the rapid visualization via CAD renderings.

Renderings show the developed concepts and enable the customer and designer to have an early overview of the future product. Depending on your needs, renderings can be made by hand, or they can be photorealistic 3D CAD renderings.
In collaboration with the customers, the final concept will be selected from the proposed approaches. For design and implementation to the last detail, the design department works closely with the engineering and production.
Below you will get an insight into individual steps of detailing.

The use of the same CAD platform supports the close collaboration with the engineers during the final design of the products. Engineers and designers are thus constantly able to check on the form, structure and function.

Prototyping is part of the iterative development and optimization process. Prototypes are created based on the CAD data in order to check the shape and function of the product in detail.

Test series with volunteers, discussions with and analysis by specialists bring certainty regarding the handling, functionality and market acceptance. In addition, they provide important inputs for the further development.

In einem letzten Schritt der Umsetzung werden Design relevante Details wie die Farbgebung, Logoplatzierung und Oberflächenstrukturen definiert. In a final step of implementation, design-related details like coloring, logo placement and surface structures are defined.
In a process of communication, sampling, correction and optimization, the product is brought in a step-wise approach to production.

The MI-documents will be transmitted to the production partner and discussed with him in detail. In addition to data and images, detailed prototypes are created and supplied to clarify complicated details.

The production partner implements the data from the MI-documents and produces the first pre-serial parts. If necessary, the designer follows this process on-site and works closely with the manufacturers.
